Barkers Lodge is the earliest home on Mowbray Park Farm. The road you will travel on from Picton to the farm is ‘Barkers Lodge Road’; it is a significant part of local history dating back to the 1800’s. Construction of this grand home began in the mid 1860’s it has stood the test of time and stands as a link to our colonial past.
Barkers Lodge has hosted many of this countries political alumni from the 19th century. It was once a repatriation hospital for WW1 veterans and at one time the ‘executive holiday residence’ for the ‘big Australian’ BHP.
Today it is the family home for the managers of Mowbray Park, Blair and Jacqui and during the year it hosts many of the family for gatherings. Christmas is always a special occasion as the sons and daughters of Dr Couch and Mrs Couch come to the farm with their children and grandchildren sharing a space as many others have over the years.
